Adults Face Unique Challenges Throughout Life.

Anxiety can present in many different ways, whether you experience mild social anxiety around giving presentations at work or panic attacks that leave you confused and scared. Anxiety can also present in response to unprocessed trauma. In art therapy sessions, the creative process is used to identify and explore the root cause of the anxious thoughts and feelings and identify ways to manage and cope.

Life Changes

All change creates some stress - even positive change. Navigating life’s new chapters can present us with many challenges and opportunities. Whether you are making shifts in your career, navigating the next chapter of a romantic relationship, or nurturing a new aspect of your identity, therapy can offer a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore life’s most important changes and chapters.

Perfectionism

Perfectionism looks like a project that seems too intimidating to begin, so you never start. Something you try once, then tell yourself is silly, unproductive, or that you’re not good at. Making a mistake and being excessively hard on yourself, instead of letting yourself learn from it. Setting goals that aren’t achievable, and expecting yourself to accomplish them. Perfectionism is exhausting. Art therapy for perfectionism means that we’ll work together to identify ways to create more balance, flexibility, and self-compassion.

A person in a wheelchair looks out into a meadow that's covered in sunlight. Another person, perhaps a caregiver, stands behind them, resting their hands on the handles of the wheelchair.

Grief and Loss

Grief is as individual and complex as we are. Everything from the death of a loved one to the loss of a job, home, object, pet, role, relationship, or any aspect of our identity can present grief. It can be difficult to find our footing when we’re grieving, let alone access the words to capture how we feel. Creative self-expression invites us into the many ways we might begin to process our grief.

Millennial Women

From career growth to relationships to finances to worry about the sociopolitical climate - on top of the impact of the pandemic - the stress for millennials is real. Even good stress- engagement, marriage, parenting, career growth and success, obtaining a degree, moving, building self-awareness - can create challenges. I work with women who often identify as hard-working, empathic, and anxious - they want to do well in life, and with all of the additional expectations and pressures out there - they often benefit from processing ways to increase calm and unlearn old patterns in therapy.

Art Therapy Offers a New Perspective.

  • Caregivers

    Caregivers & Empaths

Caregivers can be a healthcare worker who is feeling burned out, a family member or friend who is helping to care for a loved one, a therapist or a helping professional who is holding space for others, a spiritual healer, teacher, or advocate who guides others toward healing.

  • Cancer Previvors

Previvors are individuals who are at a higher predisposition to developing certain cancers. This can produce worry, fear, and anxiety and impact relationships and confidence over time. Therapy offers a space to process this unique experience and care for one’s mind and body.

  • Creatives

My belief is that we’re all creative, and use our creativity every single day. Art therapy for creatives can help with removing creative blocks, processing without pressure, exploring new materials, and offer space to gain perspective and new insight.
